Solidarity with Japan

Knowing the generosity of the Community of St. Bridget, we share with you this call to solidarity with our brothers Japan.

Buenos Aires, March 15, 2011 .-

Subject: Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.

Dear Sirs:

occasion of the serious consequences of the earthquake of 8.9 magnitude on the Richter scale and subsequent tsunami that devastated on Friday 11 March, the Sendai area, east coast of Japan, the Nikkei Federation of Argentina (FANA) on behalf of the member associations and the Japanese community in Argentina, thank the institutions and people of la Nación Argentina for the many expressions of sympathy and affection received in those days.


As of yesterday, the Federation of Nikkei in Argentina, in the person of its president Mr. Akira Ikegaki, sent to HE Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Don Hitohiro Ishida a message of sorrow and solidarity the Japanese community in Argentina for the victims of the earthquake.

Also, at night the Board of Directors of the institution was called a special meeting attended by former presidents and representatives of the Circle of decorations, to analyze the situation in Japan and find a channel aid to the disaster. To conclude the meeting took the following determination:


1) To receive donations will enable the following special bank account: Bank

2) Initiate contacts Japanese Red Cross or other relief organization or civil defense, which could be the recipient of grants in Japan.


3) In principle cash donations will be sent by telegraphic transfer. Be some order in kind (food, etc.) By the receiving entity mentioned in 2) will analyze the feasibility of shipping.


4) will analyze the possibility of a festival or some other activity, allowing to raise funds for aid to the victims.


5) Those interested in donating may do so directly into your bank account Special mentioned in point 1), or else through Japan or Kenjinkai associations (associations of prefectures), affiliated to FANA.


6) is estimated to make the first batch of money by 15 April.
